Daytime | Primetime | Late Night

Best Bets:

Ed (NBC, 7pm)
The West Wing (NBC, 8pm)
The Job (ABC, 8:30pm)
Law & Order (NBC, 9pm)

Daytime:

Kevin Bacon, Elmo, Barry Manilow on The Rosie O’Donnell Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Women who are unaware they’re menopausal on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).

Lee (Bruce Boxleitner) learns his long dead parents were spies and possibly double agents on Scarecrow & Mrs. King (PAX, 3pm). You didn’t think Alias was the first to deal with this kind of thing, did you?

Buffy and friends go on the offensive to try and stop The Mayor in the “Choices” episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 5pm) and then they go dancing in “The Prom” episode (FX, 6pm) which is one of my favorites for some inexplicable reason (oh alright, I like the ending).

Primetime:

Ed (NBC, 7pm) tries to reunite his old high school band. Andy Richter guest stars as one of Ed’s former bandmates. Still loving this show. And Andy Richter, too.

TCM celebrates Black History Month with films all this month that feature “African American contributions to the music of film.” Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong in New Orleans (TCM, 7pm) [more info]; Lena Horne, Ethel Waters, Duke Ellington, and that Louis Armstrong guy again in Cabin in the Sky (TCM, 9pm) [more info], and Hallelujah (TCM, 11pm) [more info].

I wanted to like That ’80s Show (FOX, 7pm). It should be easy, right? I was a teenager during the ’80s, after all, and I’m quite fond of all things ’80s. And I really like That ’70s Show despite it being set in the ’70s. But boy were the first two episodes of this awful. And I’m pretty sure they were getting some details wrong and that feeling drove me crazy. And the characters? Can’t really stand any of them except the manager of the record shop, she’s funny. Bah. I don’t recommend going out of your way for this show, I’ll try to keep checking in to see if it improves.

The crew learns that T’Pol has been ordered by the Vulcan High Command (!?) to leave the Enteprise (UPN, 7pm). Sounds like it’s time for a party! (Sorry, I can’t stand her. Well, I’ve only seen three episodes, though, maybe she gets better or grows on you or something).

Dawson’s student film is trying for some people I guess on Dawson’s Creek (WB, 7pm).

September 11th survivors report guilt and trauma on 60 Minutes II (CBS, 7pm).

The President consults a psychiatrist (Adam Arkin) about a sleep disorder; and a journalist is missing overseas (NBC wisely pulled the promos that fixated on the missing journalist plot, since it hit a little close to home given recent events) on The West Wing (NBC, 8pm).

The Seattle FBI arrive looking for a serial killer on the island on Glory Days (WB, 8pm).

Jordan joins the football team on The Bernie Mac Show (FOX, 8pm). Marcus Allen guest stars.

Garlic episode of Good Eats (Food Network, 8pm and 11pm). Yum.

Teams compete to build tunnelling machines on Junkyard Wars (TLC, 8pm and 11pm).

Dick Van Dyke, Barry Van Dyke, Victoria Rowell, Charlie Schlatter and company return for a new Diagnosis Murder TV movie: Diagnosis Murder: Town Without Pity (CBS, 8pm-10pm).

Ruben moonlights as a security guard for actress Gina Gershon (who guest stars as herself) on The Job (ABC, 8:30pm). Far and away my favorite live action half-hour comedy of the season.

Frankie Muniz guest stars on Titus (FOX, 8:30pm).

A 24-year-old aide to a state senator disappears from her Manhattan apartment on Law & Order (NBC, 9pm).

Rob Lowe on Revealed with Jules Asner (E!, 9pm).

Late Night:

LL Cool J on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Chris Matthews, Adam Vinatieri (of the New England Patriots), Eric Burdon on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

David Spade, Jillian Barberie, Default on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Brian Bersawan, Ana Gasteyer, the B-52s on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Joe Mantegna, Kylie Minogue on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).

Fred Durst, Tantric on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).

Gloria Reuben guest stars in the “Dead End” episode of Homicide: Life on the Street (Court TV, midnight). The detectives continue to pursue a suspect in the shootings of three of their own.

Chicago Hope (Lifetime, midnight).
