wednesday
Tom Cruise on The Rosie O’Donnell Show (syndicated, check your local listings).
Patrick MacNee thinks he’s Sherlock Holmes on Magnum, P.I. (A&E, 4pm).
“The Doomsday Machine” episode of Star Trek (Sci-Fi, 5pm). I can hear the music in my head.
Lots of Buffy fans seemed to hate the “Family” episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 5pm), but I found it sweet. It’s about Tara and her family (and her chosen family). A little heavy handed, but it worked for me.
And then there’s the “Fool for Love” episode of Buffy (FX, 6pm). Where we learn a whole lot about Spike’s past, how he was sired (including what he was like before it happened) and how he killed those two Slayers. James Marsters is pretty fabulous in a wonderful episode.
‘Tis the season for a new holiday episode of Ed (NBC, 7pm). You bet $10 it’ll be good.
New episodes of King of the Hill (FOX, 7pm) and Grounded for Life (FOX, 7:30pm).
Dawson’s Creek (WB, 7pm) promises “Four Scary Stories” (didn’t they say that before?).
Robert Redford and Paul Newman on 60 Minutes II (CBS, 7pm).
Leo testifies before the congressional committee, the start of the “Bartlet for America” campaign is shown in flashbacks, and then there’s a whole Christmas subplot, too on a new episode of The West Wing (NBC, 8pm).
“It’s A Wonderful Cake” is the Good Eats (Food Network, 8pm and 11pm) episode about fruitcake. Really!
Felicity (WB, 8pm) is trapped in a fire.
Reed Diamond, Kristin Davis, Tim Meadows in another airing of Three Days (ABC Family Channel, 8pm).
The cops and lawyers of Law & Order (NBC, 9pm) investigate the death of a publishing executive.
New episode of South Park (Comedy Central, 9pm).
Drew Barrymore Revealed (E!, 9pm). Jules Asner interviews Drew in a new special.
Rudolph Giuliani on 20/20 (ABC, 9pm).
Rerun of the pilot episode of Six Feet Under (HBO, 9pm).
Janeanne Garofalo on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).
Andy Garcia, Chris Matthews on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).
Meg Ryan, Bob Dole, Garbage on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).
Elijah Wood, Rosario Dawson, Tony Bennett on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).
Another milestone (I guess) for Bayliss in the “Zen and the Art of Murder” episode of Homicide: Life on the Street (Court TV, midnight).
