Picks for Saturday will be online later (not sure when).
Magnum is trapped in the ocean for hours on end in “Home from the Sea,” one of my favorite episodes of Magnum, P.I. (A&E, 4pm).
Buffy can hear peoples thoughts in the “Earshot” episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 5pm).
And then everyone makes some tough “Choices” in another episode (FX, 6pm).
Another fine rerun of The Chronicle (Sci-FI, 6pm and 2am). Where the news reported in a tabloid is real.
Miss the much lauded musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (UPN, 7pm) called “Once More, With Feeling”? You missed one of the best hours of TV of the season, an episode destined to be a classic for a good long time. It airs again tonight, this time it doesn’t run overtime. Folks say it still contains pretty much everything the longer version did, just that some sequences were tightened up, some things may be slightly time compressed. But all the important bits are still there. (I’ve already watched this episode many, many times; that’s how much I love it).
It’s a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (ABC, 7pm).
Huh. It’s an hour-long special about The Mall of America (Discovery Channel, 7pm).
Ellen ends up driving a school bus on The Ellen Show (CBS, 7:30pm).
Johnny and Rita head to Atlantic City on Thieves (ABC, 8pm). One of my favorite new series of the season, much to my amazement.
“The Pitch” episode of Inside TV Land (TV Land, 8pm). All about the development process and pitches for classic TV shows.
William Shatner hosts Iron Chef USA: Showdown in Las Vegas (UPN, 8pm).
Rerun of Billy Joel: In His Own Words (A&E, 8pm-10pm; midnight-2am). I’m told this was really a great concert special; I know I always enjoy Joel’s concerts as well as when he talks about his songs. I feel a little old and non-hip for admitting it, but there you have it.
Baba Wawa interviews George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Julia Roberts and Don Cheadle (a.k.a. the cast of Ocean’s Eleven) on a new Barbara Walters Special (ABC, 9pm).
Another fine new episode of Law & Order: Special Victim’s Unit (NBC, 9pm).
Richard Harris, George Carlin on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).
Courtney Thorne Smith, Maxwell on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).
Billy Bob Thornton, Jennifer Garner (of Alias) on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).
Snoop Dogg, Terry Farrell (of DS9 and Becker), Tori Amos on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).
Tonight on Homicide: Life on the Street (Court TV, midnight): the episode (and performance) that won Andre Braugher an Emmy (finally). Yup, it’s “Fallen Heroes, part 2″. The Mahoney crew is taken down, secrets are revealed, detectives are hospitalized, and a couple of detectives leave the squad. Season six series finale.
