A station employee asks Venus to convince her kid not to drop out of school in the “Venus and the Man” episode of WKRP in Cincinatti (TNN, 8am).

Richie is pecked by a giant woodpecker (or is he?) on a memorable episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show (TV Land, 8am; 12:30am).

Nothin’ but episodes of Great Blunders in History on the History Channel during the day today, except when China Beach is on (Noon and 6pm).

Crow: Stairway to Heaven is the subject of today’s sci-fi mini marathon (Sci-Fi, 10am-3pm).

Cherry (Nan Woods), Lila (Concetta Tomei), and Laurette (Chloe Webb) are stranded when their helicopter crashes in an early episode of China Beach (History Channel, Noon and 6pm).

Murdock goes undercover in “The Spy Who Mugged Me” episode of The A-Team (TV Land, 1pm).

Hank Azaria, Travis Tritt, Ben Stein, and Austin Pendleton are all in an episode of Tales from the Crypt together (really!) (Sci-Fi, 5:30pm).

“Believers” episode of Babylon 5 (Sci-Fi, 6pm, letterboxed) and “That Old Black Magic” episode of Farscape (Sci-Fi, 7pm).

News Daily: The Ones Emmy Forgot (E!, 6:30pm) promises to look at shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gilmore Girls which were overlooked by the Emmy Award folks this year.

New episodes of The Hughleys (UPN, 7pm) and One on One (UPN, 7:30pm), followed by the season premieres of Parkers (UPN, 8pm) and Girlfriends (UPN, 8:30pm).

Ice cream toppings are featured on a new episode of Unwrapped (Food Network, 8pm and 11pm).

More hijinks in the demon dimension on Angel (WB, 8pm).

I thought “The Wedding” was a surprisingly effective season finale of Ally McBeal (FOX, 8pm) even though the title simply makes one wonder if the initial plans were for Ally to wed (or almost-wed) Larry (Robert Downey Jr.) before Downey Jr. had to suddenly exit the show due to real life problems.

Dave Navarro on a new Daily Show (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Pilot episode of Profiler (Court TV, 10pm).

Kelly Ripa on The Late Show w/ David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Keanu Reeves, Aisha Tyler, Babyface on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Regis is on a rerun of Late Night w/ Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Jonathan LaPaglia, Vivica A. Fox, music guest Afroman on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).

“Scene of the Crime” episode of Homicide: Life on the Street (Court TV, midnight).

“Thespis” is one of my favorite episodes of Sports Night (Comedy Central, 12:30am).
