Featured pick:

Now and Again (Sci-Fi, 8pm) will air Monday through Thursday each week at 8pm throughout August and September. I love the show. I’m thrilled that it’s first (and sadly only) season is on the air again.

It was created by Glenn Gordon Caron (the creator of Moonlighting) and starred Eric Close, Margaret Colin, Dennis Haysbert, Gerrit Graham, and Heather Matarrazo. John Goodman guest stars in tonight’s pilot episode.

It’s impossible to pidgeonhole as the show mixes science fictional elements with romantic comedy and with family drama. Throw in dashes of action adventure, suspense, mystery. Add some cool music and offbeat humor and a whole lot of soul.

See what I wrote about it way back when (as well as what other people were saying about the show).

And check out The 11th Hour’s Top 11 Reasons to Watch the Show.

The pilot episode airs tonight. I’ll warn you that it’s a bit different in tone than the rest of the series . . . so if you’re trying the show for the first time, I recommend withholding judgement ’til you’ve seen at least a couple or a few episodes.

More picks and possibilities:

K.C. is implicated in the death of a Vietnamese national and Boonie is harboring a draft dodger on China Beach (History Channel, Noon and 6pm).

When It Was A Game II (HBO, 6pm) looks at baseball during the ’30s, ’40s, and ’50s.

Catch NYPD Blue from the beginning– the pilot airs today (FX, 6pm).

Oh-oh. Bester and Garibaldi “square off” on Babylon 5 (Sci-Fi, 6pm, letterboxed). I like it when two of my favorite characters square off.

Members of the Baseball Hall of Fame sit down to chat on a new Hall of Fame Round Table (ESPN2, 7pm).

Robert Altman directed The James Dean Story (TCM, 7pm), a film that pieces together Dean’s life with clips and interviews. It wasn’t particularly well received, but I’m sure it’s interesting if you’re a James Dean fan (obviously!). It’s followed by Rebel Without A Cause (TCM, 8:30pm); .

Young Sherlock Holmes (AMC, 7pm) is a fairly recent film to air on AMC, but I’m not complaining.

Rose Marie guest stars on The Hughleys (UPN, 7:30pm).

Part 1 (of 2) of Next: The Future Just Happened (A&E, 8pm-10pm). The tv listings say: “writer Michael Lewis’ look at the impact the Internet is having on today’s culture, including teen-agers who have made a fortune online and a band who markets its album over the Web.”

Blind Man’s Bluff (History Channel, 8pm-10pm) is new. What’s it about? Submariners from the U.S. and Russia talk about their experiences during the Cold War.

Part 2 (of 5) of Cannonball Run: Race Across America (USA, 9pm). Using “any means necessary,” six teams race from New York to California. Fun and funny! (But where’s Dom Deluise when you need him?)

Candy Bars are the subject of a new episode of Unwrapped (Food Network, 9:30pm).

The Late Show w/ David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm) is in reruns all week.

Tim Roth and on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).
