FEATURED ANTI-PICK
Don’t watch Son of the Beach (FX, 9pm). Just don’t.
In the least inspiring NFL Yearbook (ESPN2, 10am) ever, the 2000 San Diego Chargers finish last in the league and get the first draft pick.
There’s a five-episode marathon of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (Sci-Fi, 10am), if that’s the sort of thing you’re into. And if you are, have you read Bruce Campbell’s book yet?
On Newsradio (A&E, 11:30am), Beth’s got a fashion idea that, I am convinced, would sell a lot right now.
Sean Connery and Christian Slater as crime-solving medieval monks in The Name of the Rose (Bravo, noon). From the best-selling (but rarely-read) novel by Umberto Eco, which I love. The novel, I mean. The movie is kind of weird.
On 20th Century (History, 1pm), mad bombers are examined, including George Metesky. No word on whether the Evil Mad Midnight Bomber What Bombs At Midnight from the Tick will be included.
Babylon 5 (Sci-Fi, 6:00pm) is “No Surrender, No Retreat”, which sounds awfully dramatic. The capsule description is about treaties, though, so who can tell?
Big Brother 2 (CBS, 7pm) is still going on. Isn’t it almost over yet? It’s only been a week? Ugh.
It’s the All-Star Game (Fox, 7pm)! I’m expecting my entire office to be mysteriously absent today. See, because I live in Seattle. Should I have mentioned that earlier? I think the joke’s sort of ruined now. Anyway, it’s baseball, but with only big-shots.
On Go Fish (NBC, 7:30pm), Fish tries to become a “bad boy” to impress Jess. But, and I bet this comes as a surprise, it backfires. I hear this show is pretty good, even if it does star Macaulay Culkin’s brother.
Kristin (NBC, 8:30pm) has fund-raising problems of some sort.
On Becoming (MTV, 9:30pm) “A viewer is transformed into Britney Spears and remakes one of her videos”. This exact plot could be used on The Twilight Zone.
The Late Show (CBS, 10:35pm) has some actress named “Julia Roberts”, while The Late Late Show (CBS, 11:35pm) gets Samantha Mathis, who I assume is pushing Mists of Avalon.
The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm) and Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm) are both reruns again
I’m done, and Laurel’s back tomorrow. Welcome back, Laurel!
