weekend
For those who asked– I turn 30 on Thursday, July 5th.
Picks for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday follow Friday’s picks. Just keep on scrolling.
Monty Ashley will be filling in for me from Tuesday, July 3rd through Tuesday, July 10th. Monty rocks. Y’all be good while I’m gone. I’ll be back, with any luck, on Wednesday, July 11th.
Brendan Frasier, Joan Cusack, and Chris Noth on a very cool rerun of The Rosie O’Donnell Show (sydicated, check your local listings).
McMurphy accompanies a young soldier to a party in the “Where The Boys Are” episode of China Beach (History Channel, 1pm and 6pm). A great episode for this hot summertime.
“Special Powers” was the first episode of the second season of Sports Night (Comedy Central, 1:30pm). Wherein Casey *finally* asks Dana out. That song used at the beginning of this episode? One of my favorites: “She Will Have Her Way” by Neil Finn.
“Lines of Communication” episode of Babylon 5 (Sci-Fi, 6pm, letterboxed). Sheridan decides to counter the ISN reports.
If you live someplace where you can get Twins games regularly, don’t forget to tune in early for games this Friday and Saturday as they’ll be broadcasting the pre-game celebrations of the tenth anniversary of the Twins 1991 season and World Series victory. (6:30pm Friday, 5:30pm Saturday).
It sure looks like an Absolutely Fabulous (BBC America, starting at 7pm) on BBC America. Running quite late. Check your listings for gory details, you AbFab fans, you.
New episodes of Invisible Man (Sci-Fi, 7pm and 10pm), Farscape (Sci-Fi, 8pm and 11pm), and The Outer Limits (Sci-Fi, 9pm and midnight). It’s the summer of sci-fi, but you knew that.
Two newish cartoon series worth checking out Fairly Oddparents (Nick, 7:30pm) and Invader Zim (Nick, 8pm). ‘Course if you’d rather watch Powerpuff Girls! (Cartoon Network, 7:30pm) and Time Squad (Cartoon Network, 8pm), I wouldn’t blame you. (Better yet: record one, watch the other . . . ).
Still more Junkyard Wars (TLC, 8pm and 11pm). This time it’s “Off Road Vehicles.” Followed by Robotica (TLC, 9pm and midnight).
Season premiere of Stargate SG-1 (Showtime, 9pm).
I’m frightened by any series on E! called The Truth About Blondes (E!, 9pm). And yes, I’m a natural blonde, thank-you-very-much.
Another truly great first season episode of Homicide: Life on the Street (Court TV, 10pm). Andre Braugher celebrates his 39th birthday on July 1st and Ned Beatty celebrates a birthday on July 5th or 6th (depending on which source you believe). Are you frightened that I know this without looking it up? You ought to be.
