Here’s how the Fall 2001 schedule grid is shaping up.
Some news:
New fall schedule announcements: ABC, NBC, WB
Early word: CBS and FOX
TNT may air Gilmore Girls and Charmed (after they air earlier in the week on the WB). Cool!

Ralph Tabakin, who played Scheiner on Homicide passed away. R.I.P.
The Picks:
Maura Tierney on The Daily Show (Comedy Central, 6pm; from last night).
“Matters of Honor” is the first episode of the third season of Babylon 5 (Sci-Fi, 6pm, letterboxed). New opening credits! A new character! And it’s probably my favorite season of the series (though on certain days I might say I prefer season 4).
Glory has Dawn and Buffy is catatonic. Oh my. It’s a new episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (WB, 7pm). Second-to-last episode of Buffy on the WB. In case any of you haven’t heard, Buffy is moving to the UPN for the next two seasons. Don’t let those WB commercials worry you.
Ted Nugent and Howard Hesseman guest star on That ’70s Show (FOX, 7pm). Appropriate, eh?
Mac is daydreaming about the past as she ponders her modern-day dilemna on a new JAG (CBS, 7pm). (JAG will be back next year).
When a Mom goes to wake her daughter, he daughter is missing. Only later to be found sleeping across town. I bet it’s mysterious ‘cuz this is a new episode of Mysterious Ways (PAX, 7pm).
Fred Willard guest stars on The Fighting Fitzgeralds (NBC, 7pm) and John Cleese guest stars on Third Rock from the Sun (NBC, 7:30pm).
Cordelia is Queen (or something) and Angel is so not on fire in a demon dimension on Angel (WB, 8pm). Angel is staying on the WB, but moving to Monday nights following 7th Heaven (?!?).
Meanwhile, Max is in heat (!?) on Dark Angel (FOX, 8pm). As if you haven’t seen the promos. How could you miss them? Just remember in real life Ms. “Max” Alba is engaged to Mr. “Logan” Weatherly. Okay, maybe that’ll just weird you out.
Jean Smart guest stars on an hour-long Frasier (NBC, 8pm).
Kevin Sorbo and Kirstie Alley guest star on Dharma & Greg (ABC, 8pm). I don’t suppose my hometown boy Sorbo goes all Hercules and kicks Alley’s butt. I can dream, can’t I?
You know, I kinda liked Judging Amy (CBS, 9pm) during it’s first season, but this year it’s really taken a turn for the darker. Tonight’s icky case of the week involves kids. Siblings. Ages 12 and 5. One might’ve raped the other. Ewwwww. (What is this, SVU all of a sudden?)
I bet NYPD Blue (ABC, 9pm) is all hearts and flowers by comparison. Well, maybe. You never know.
Bayliss has a “clever plan” whereas Pembleton “has no plan” in “Full Court Press,” one of the best episodes of the sixth season of Homicide: Life on the Street (Court TV, 10pm). Steve Burns (of Blues Clues) guest stars. Clark Johnson directed this episode.
John Travolta, R.E.M. on The Late Show w/ David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).
Arsenio Hall on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).
Matthew Broderick, Bradley Whitford (of The West Wing), the Go-Gos on Late Night w/ Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).
Charlie Rose (PBS, check your local listings): “Scheduled: The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin and actors Martin Sheen, John Spencer, Allison Janney, Richard Schiff and Bradley Whitford.”
Penn Jillette, Oded Fehr, Poppy Montgomery on Politically Incorrect (ABC, check your local listings).
