friday
Picks for Saturday and Sunday follow (scroll down to see ‘em).
Reruns of NewsRadio (A&E, 5:30pm weekdays) have cycled back to the beginning: the pilot episode airs today. The series is one of the best sitcoms of the last twenty years and is among my ten favorite sitcoms of all-time. Can’t recommend this show highly enough. Dave Foley, Phil Hartman, Maura Tierney, Vicki Lewis, Stephen Root, Khandi Alexander, Andy Dick, and Joe Rogan star. One of the best comedic ensembles you’ll ever see.
It looks like Comedy Central is airing an old episode of Saturday Night Live at 5pm on Fridays instead of reruns of Sports Night. If schedules are to be believed. Grrr. Sorry about that. (You can catch this week’s reruns on Sunday at 10am and 10:30am).
Sheridan investigates some mysterious attacks and there’s yet another crisis involving the telepaths on Babylon 5 (Sci-Fi, 6pm, letterboxed).
Dr. Mark and the rest of the Diagnosis Murder (CBS, 7pm) gang are on the case when a bookie and a gambler both end up dead under (you guessed it) mysterious circumstances.

Humphrey Bogart, Mary Astor, and Sydney Greenstreet in The Maltese Falcon (TCM, 9:30pm).
Bruno Kirby and Richard Edson guest star in “The Gas Man,” the final episode of the third season of Homicide: Life on the Street (Court TV, 10pm). Directed by Barry Levinson, it shows the squad from a different perspective. It’s an episode that polarizes fans, most love it or hate it, there’s very little middle ground. Ami Brabson guest stars as Pembleton’s wife Mary (Brabson is also married to Andre Braugher offscreen).
Megan Mullally, Eddie Brill on The Late Show w/ David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Michael Hurst (who was Iaolus once upon a time) plays a tabloid reporter who’s trying to find out why Xena (WGN, 4pm) is after the golden apples of Valhalla. It’s a very strange episode, but it’s pretty darn funny.
The Jetsons Meet The Flintstones (Cartoon Network, 6pm) when a time machine malfunctions.
Even uncut, sans commercials, Exodus (TCM, 7pm) is a good three and a half hours long. (But it sure beats the Chock Full Of Commercials version).

Alton Brown reveals “The Art of Darkness” (that is, he tells all re chocolate) on Good Eats (Food Network, 5:30pm). It’s fun *and* educational and one of my favorite series. Go figure.
