If you’re watching the current run of Babylon 5 (Sci-Fi, 6pm, letterboxed), I don’t really need to remind you to keep watching, do I? I’m still grumpy ‘cuz my cable was out yesterday so I missed yesterday’s episode (even though I’ve seen it before).
Final installment of Jazz (PBS, check your local listings).
The spotlight is on director John Sturges as TCM airs The Great Escape (TCM, 7pm, letterboxed), The Satan Bug (TCM, 10pm, letterboxed), Never So Few (TCM, midnight), and Ice Station Zebra (TCM, 2:15am, letterboxed).
If you missed the premiere of Survivor: The Australian Outback (CBS, 7pm), you can catch it tonight. The show’s regular timeslot will be 7pm Thursdays on CBS (in case anyone hasn’t heard by now).
Ian Ziering and Brian Orser guest star on a new Twice in a Lifetime (PAX, 7pm).
Ed (NBC, 7pm) is a rerun, Dawson’s Creek (WB, 7pm) and Seven Days (UPN, 7pm) are new.
Jack & Jill (WB, 8pm) and the rest of the gang go to Hollywood for the premiere of Audrey’s movie. Jack meets an old flame and Jill is a bit wowed by the women of L.A. Looks like fun and yeah, I still love this show. Amanda Peet and Ivan Sergei star.
Alton Brown explains poaching (heh) on a new Good Eats (Food Network, 8pm, 11pm). I love this show. (Warning: it may make you hungry. Last week’s episode about cheese made me crave grilled cheese sandwiches to the point where I went to the store and bought cheese and bread . . . even though it was snowing and I had plenty of other things to eat in my fridge/cupboards)
Seven of Nine sheds a lot of tears over her Borg past after meeting an alien who is haunted by his own violent past on a new Star Trek: Voyager (UPN, 8pm).
John Larroquette guest stars on a rerun of The West Wing (NBC, 8pm).
I’m finally caught up with Once and Again (ABC, 9pm) after being a few episodes behind for a while. Wow. Still such a good show, with such a great cast of characters. This week’s new episode focuses on the kids (and this is one show where this is a very good thing). Grace is troubled by Eli and Carla’s relationship.
David Dukes guest stars on a rerun of Law & Order (NBC, 9pm)
Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor, and James Dean (in his final role) in Giant (AMC, 9pm, 4:15am letterboxed).
“All Through The House” is a great episode of Homicide: Life on the Street (Court TV, 10pm). It finds the detectives working the night shift on Christmas Eve, where things are pretty slow. There’s the usual mix of humor and drama here, plus more warmth than usual. Nancy Marchand and Zeljko Ivanek guest star. Sequences from this episode were featured in the closing minutes of Homicide: The Movie with good reason: you want to savor this episode and remember the detectives this way. With Bayliss and Gee playing Hearts, with Munch and the Big Man bickering. With a snowball fight. I love this episode, I love this show.
Patricia Heaton (of Everybody Loves Raymond) and Jeff Probst (of Survivor) on The Late Show w/ David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).
Julianne Moore, Mark Wahlberg on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).
Glenn Frey guest stars in the “Smuggler’s Blues” episode of Miami Vice (TNN, 11pm).
Sean Young and the first castoff from Survivor II on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).
Chyna on Late Night w/ Conan (NBC, check your local listings).
The final episode of the second season of Millennium (FX, midnight) is one of the most intriguing and amazing hours of TV you’ll ever see. How much do I love the sequence that’s set to Patti Smith’s “Horses”? The end of the world never looked or sounded so good.
Always fun: SCTV (NBC, check your local listings).
